Why I Serve
Karen Googe joined the Board of Directors in the fall of 2010. Her first awareness of Associates in Christian Counseling came when a Board member approached her employer about becoming a business sponsor at our annual banquet. Her interest in Associates continued to grow so she was quick to accept when asked to serve on the Board.
“I was raised in a Christian home with a mother who served as a pastor in a Friends Church. My siblings and I never took a problem to my mother without her asking if we had prayed about it,” Karen shared. From that experience, Karen believes clients can benefit greatly from the Christian counseling which Associates’ therapists offer. “They bring the perspective that Christ can heal all things and that He is our greatest comforter.”
One of Karen’s hopes is that more in our community will become aware of Associates in Christian Counseling and the mental health services they are able to provide. “In particular, I would like more Christian leaders in the business community to become familiar with this ministry and lead the way in providing greater financial support so more could benefit,” she said.
In conclusion, Karen went on to say that she feels that becoming involved with Associates has also been a great blessing and dovetails into her involvement with the Stephen Ministry at church. “I feel fortunate to be a part of Associates and am excited about the new relationships I am developing as a result. You can never have too many Christian friends who are willing to help others.”
